Claim

On January 28, 2025, the Trendy Updates Facebook page flagged a job advert purportedly from the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ). The advert bearing a note, “Submit your application now…” invites applications for various positions at the Commission. Most followers on the page seemed skeptical about the advert, with some of them labeling it a scum. One comment read “Checked their website and they ain’t recruiting anyone.”

Rating Justification

iVerify Zambia has determined that the claimed job advert posted by Trendy Updates is fake. A thorough examination of the advert revealed that it contained an unfamiliar and fake URL, a poorly designed and cluttered layout, and blurred information. The link on the advert redirects users to an unrecognized Uniform Resource Locator (URL) (https://inuaeto.github.io/ecz-zm-recrtmrnt ), which has a form asking for personal details such as name, education, contact number, and email address.

IVerify Zambia also checked the official Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), https://www.elections.org.zm/, website which did not have the job advert posted on Trendy Updates Facebook page. The latest recruitment update was from October 2024, with such details as job title, post location and department clearly specified.iVerify Zambia further contacted the ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager, Patricia Luhanga, who confirmed that the advertisement in question was fake.
Therefore, iVerify Zambia finds the job advert on Trendy Updates to be a fabrication and an attempt to fraudulently harvest personal data of unsuspecting Facebook users.
