Claim

On December 1, 2022, Ms. Saboi Imboela, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party President, published a post on her Facebook page alleging that President Hakainde Hichilema said that he had sold the Gulfstream Presidential Jet. This comes after the President’s remarks on the status of the Gulfstream Presidential Jet during the Judicial Conference held in Livingstone on November 29, 2022.

Rating Justification

iVerify Zambia has determined as misleading the claim by Ms. Imboela alleging that the President said that he had sold the Gulfstream Presidential Jet. To arrive at this conclusion, iVerify Zambia examined the video showing the President speaking during the Judicial conference on November 29 2022 in Livingstone. In his speech, Mr. Hichilema said the Jet will be sold and that Government was just going through the procedures. Therefore, the Gulfstream Presidential Jet has not yet been sold but will be sold according to the President.
