On July 11, 2023, an image entitled “Weather Advisory” with a message claiming to be from the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment under the Meteorological Department was shared on the iVerify Zambia Whatsapp platform for verification. The message claimed that a strong high-pressure system over Southern South Africa would be advancing a strong, moist and cool airflow from the south-east over most parts of Zambia during the forecast period of 11th to 16th July 2023. The statement in the post further advised the public to keep warm due to the low temperature and to avoid open areas due to dusty conditions. The post was also re-shared on social media platforms which made some sections of the public inquire whether the post was authentic or not.
