Claim

On September 12, 2023, the official Facebook page of the Daily Nation Zambia newspaper published a news article claiming that the Zambia Centre for Accountancy Studies (ZCAS) had closed the ZCAS University due to non-payment of rentals amounting to about K1.1 million.

Rating Justification

iVerify Zambia’s fact-checking process has determined as false the report by the Daily Nation Zambia Facebook page that the Zambia Centre for Accountancy Studies had closed the ZCAS University. iVerify Zambia accessed a press statement released by the ZCAS University Management disputing the story in the media that the university had closed. The statement also clarified that the University was still open and operating normally contrary to some media reports that it had closed. The University Management further called on the public to disregard the inaccurate media reports.
Therefore, the alleged claim by the Daily Nation Zambia Facebook page that ZCAS University had closed due to non-payment of rentals is false.
